Examinations - Nursing Programs

THEORY EXAMINATIONS from Didactic/Lecture Classes

  • All nursing exams are closed-book, proctored in-class, and timed.
  • Similar to the NCLEX exam, students will have 1.5 minutes per question on proctored exams.
  • No electronic devices will be allowed during examination time. All electronic devices emitting distracting noises will result in immediate termination of the student’s exam. If calculators are allowed, no phones or electronic devices can be used.
  • Personal items must be left in designated areas.
  • Students will not be allowed to congregate in hallways outside of classrooms during test administration.

  • Written work must be satisfactorily completed on time.

  • Late assignments will not be accepted and will result in a ZERO.

  • Students are not allowed to leave & return to the classroom during an exam.

  • Quizzes may be given at any time, in any course and may be unannouncedThe content of examinations is confidential. It is expected that students will not divulge any questions on examinations to any individual or entity. The unauthorized possession, reproduction, or disclosure of any examination materials, including the nature of question content, before, during, or after an examination is in violation of the nursing division policy and will subject the student to dismissal from the program.

  • Open-book exams, extra credit, and take-home exams are not permitted in the nursing program.

Students who obtain less than 80% on any test are strongly encouraged to:

  1. Meet with nursing faculty for further test review
  2. Ask about Course Remediation with the Instructor or Nursing Academic Advisor for study and test evaluation/skills.

Make-up Tests:

  • Instructors are given the prerogative to enforce the following without prior announcement on make-up tests:
    • Add additional questions.
    • Construct tests/quizzes in any form, i.e., written, objective, essay, or oral.
    • Adjust the environment for test security.
