Social Media Guidelines

These guidelines apply to: All faculty and students to ensure privacy is respected when using social media. Social media includes web-based tools that support and promote interactive and highly accessible communication between students, their peers, and others in the public.

Faculty and students are legally responsible for any information they post on social media.

Faculty and student guidelines:

1. There CANNOT be information sharing that is in direct violation of HIPAA/Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act, FERPA/Family Education Rights & Privacy Act, college or facility confidentiality policies which includes, but is not limited to, identifying students by name, or other identifiers.

2. Faculty, staff, and students are prohibited from taking personal photos, video, or audio recordings, unless authorized, in student areas to avoid inadvertently capturing student information.

3. Posting unprofessional comments or exhibiting unprofessional behavior while identifying as a Donnelly College faculty, staff or student on social media is prohibited.

4. Faculty staff, and students should not connect with students or student family members using social media.
