Legal Issues and Background Checks

LEGAL ISSUES & BACKGROUND CHECK RESULTS THAT WILL RESULT IN DISMISSAL FROM THE NURSING PROGRAM

You are required to report any past and/or new convictions while enrolled in the nursing program to the Director of Nursing.

The following convictions and/or background check results will prevent the ability to take the state Nursing Licensure test and will prevent acceptance and end participation in the Donnelly Nursing Program.

  • Felony convictions
  • Misdemeanor convictions or felony deferred adjudications involving crimes against persons (physical or sexual abuse)
  • Substance abuse unless participation in a rehabilitation program is documented
  • Misdemeanor convictions related to moral turpitude (prostitution, public lewdness/exposure, etc.)
  • Felony deferred adjudications for the sale, possession, distribution, or transfer of narcotics or controlled substances
  • Registered sex offenders
  • Sanctions within the health care field, including Medicaid, the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the General Services Administration (GSA)

IMPORTANT: Admission to the Donnelly College Nursing Program does not guarantee graduation from the program, and graduation from the program does not guarantee eligibility to take the registered nursing license examination.
