PB 220 Introduction to the Research Process
This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to the principles, methods, and techniques utilized in conducting meaningful inquiry and research in public health or a health science related field. Students in this course will gain an understanding of research intent and design, methodology, statistical methods associated with data analysis, format, and presentation of a research proposal. This course will also explore the core elements of research design including reliability, validity, bias, sampling, and statistical significance. Throughout the semester, students will be exposed to and participate in the evidence-based review process by identifying an area of research intent, designing an experiment, and conducting a literature review. This course will conclude with the students demonstrating their knowledge of the research process through the delivery and peer-review of a research proposal.
