PB 215 Emergency Preparedness in Public Health
Public health plays a vital and pivotal role in emergency situations by utilizing and continuing to expand services in prevention, mitigation, and recovery before, during, and after an emergency or natural disaster. The purpose of this course is to introduce the fundamental competencies of disaster planning, emergency preparedness, risk assessment, hazard vulnerability, and the psychological aspects involved in disaster or emergency situations. This course will also explore the role of effective communication, leadership and decision-making, and the chain of command in emergency or disaster-oriented situations.
