PB 240 Introduction to Environmental Health

Environmental health is a branch of public health focused on monitoring and mitigating factors in the environment that affect human health and disease. This introductory course will explore the multi-factorial relationship people have with the environment, preventing injury and illness from environmental hazards, effective risk management decisions, the control measures currently utilized to prevent or minimize negative health impacts, and the impact of environmental factors on health outcomes at the individual, community, and population level. Students will also begin developing the fundamental skills for conducting research in population health.
