Exam Development
Examination items will adhere to established best practices in test construction. All exam questions must:

Assess application-level thinking or higher whenever feasible
- Reflect current evidence-based nursing practice
- Be free of bias and culturally insensitive language
- Avoid grammatical cues or implausible distractors
- Contain one clearly identified best answer
Faculty members with fewer than six months of nursing education experience will be assigneda faculty mentor during their first semester teaching a didactic course. The mentor will review prior to the administration of all examinations developed by the faculty member to ensure consistency, appropriate assessment formatting, and accurate alignment of exam items with designated categories and standards.
Faculty will assign each examination item a designation aligned with Bloom’s Taxonomy as well as the appropriate NCLEX category and subcategory to support systematic end-of-year assessment and program evaluation.
