Exam Administration
Standardized Testing Procedures
Examinations will be administered under standardized conditions to ensure fairness, consistency, security, and academic integrity. Faculty will have the discretion to inspect any equipment, clothing, or material(s) prior to or during administration of the examination. Standard procedures include:
-
Clear written and verbal instructions provided prior to the start of the examination.
- Students will be allotted 1.5 minutes per question in alignment with NCLEX standards unless other accommodations have been approved.
- All students will be given a randomly assigned seat for each exam.
- Students will be given a blank piece of colored paper by faculty administering exam. The student must write his or her name on the paper and must turn it in at the end of the exam.
- NO electronic devices (smart watches, tablets, cell phones) are allowed during examinations. Cell phones must be turned off and placed with other belongings. If a student is found to have a cell phone during the examination, the student will be dismissed and will be given a zero on the examination. The student must then schedule an appointment with nursing leadership to discuss further action.
- All belongings should be placed in a designated area before the start of the exam assigned by faculty.
- No food, gum or drinking (including water) will be permitted in the computer lab during the exam.
- No hats or jackets will be permitted to be worn during the examination.
- No Donnelly name tag or any other work badge/name tag will be permitted to be worn during the examination.
- No Smart glasses such as Meta Glasses will be permitted to be worn during the examination.
All examinations will be proctored by a nursing faculty in a designated computer testing center on the Donnelly College campus. If possible, two nursing faculty or staff will be available to proctor examinations.
The following additional measures will be implemented to support exam security and standardization:
-
Use of secure login credentials and password-protected exam access
- Randomization of question order and answer choices when appropriate
- Controlled exam access windows
- Proctor verification that all students have submitted examinations prior to dismissal
- Immediate reporting and documentation of any technical issues or irregular testing behaviors to nursing leadership
- Adherence to approved testing accommodations in coordination with institutional disability services
Any deviations from standard testing procedures must be formally documented, including the rationale and any corrective actions taken.
Academic Integrity
Students are expected to comply with institutional academic integrity policies. Suspected violations will be addressed in accordance with established college procedures. Maintenance of academic honesty is consistent with professional nursing standards. For further information, refer to the Nursing Student Handbook Nursing Code of Conduct
