IT IT 203 Cloud Computing

This course introduces students to cloud computing and related technologies by examining virtualization, current public, private, and hybrid cloud deployment models, and the infrastructure-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service, and software-as-a-service cloud service models. Students will understand the rationale for each deployment and service model as well as their associated network, security, and performance characteristics. Students will solidify their knowledge through hands-on exploration of public cloud environments.

Upon successful completion of IT 203, students will have the ability to:

1. Explain key concepts of cloud computing, including virtualization and various cloud deployment models.
2. Differentiate between public, private, and hybrid cloud deployment models, understanding both their uses and their specific characteristics.
3. Describe infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), and software-as-a-service (SaaS) models and their applications.
4. Evaluate the network, security, and performance considerations of different cloud deployment and service models.
5. Apply cloud computing concepts in public cloud environments.
