Nursing Faculty Handbook

Simulation Responsibilities

Faculty who are facilitating simulation experiences are expected to:

  1. Develop and implement realistic simulation scenarios that reflect the dynamic stimuli nurses face in practice.
  2. Promote psychological safety and student adaptation to new clinical environments through structured pre-briefing.
  3. Apply evidence-based simulation pedagogy (e.g., INACSL standards) aligned with Roy's adaptive modes.
  4. Use simulation to observe and assess behavioral responses and adapt to focused, contextual, and residual stimuli.
  5. Facilitate guided debriefings that support cognitive-emotional adaptation and critical self-evaluation.
  6. Evaluate student performance with tools linked to program learning outcomes and Roy's adaptive modes.
  7. Collaborate with simulation staff to ensure technical and contextual fidelity in the learning environment.
