Performance Evaluations
FACULTY
A performance evaluation for each faculty member is an important aspect of professional development and consists of three components:
- Student Evaluations - Each semester an evaluation survey is administered to students in each class under the supervision of the Office of Institutional Research. Computerized results of these surveys are given to each faculty member for self-study.
- Faculty annual evaluation - Administered once per year within each department under the Program Director.
A classroom observation and a professional and scholarly evaluation will be completed once a year for the first three years of teaching at Donnelly and alternating classroom and professional/scholarly evaluations will be completed every other year after the 3rd year for faculty with satisfactory performance.
A classroom observation may be initiated by either faculty or director during off years, as necessary.
- Self-evaluation tool (IDP/Individual Development Plan) - Completed by each full-time faculty member in conjunction with the annual interview. At that time, a plan for professional development will be agreed upon.
STAFF
Staff Performance Evaluations will be conducted at least once a year between the employee's immediate supervisor and the employee with input and discussion from both parties. The evaluation should be an opportunity for the director and the employee to evaluate goals, obstacles, development needs, communication effectiveness, productivity, and collaboration work. The employee is given an opportunity for a written response that will be filed with the evaluation and the employee’s signature on the evaluation does not indicate 100% agreement, but instead indicates that the evaluation was conducted.
The staff and faculty evaluation templates and faculty IDP/Individual Development Plans are on the Human Resources Webpage.

Written reports of the employee's job performance are filed with the Department Director and are available for the employee to review and make any comments. The Department Supervisor is responsible for turning in all performance evaluation materials to the Human Resources office for inclusion in employee personnel files. A copy of Faculty evaluations should also be sent to the Dean of the College.
