Grading Scales for Nursing Course Work & Exams
Grade Rates are higher in nursing programs so students will work toward becoming better prepared to pass the NCLEX/National Council Licensure Examination, (the State Nursing licensing test). This grading policy is applied uniformly to all nursing students and is non-negotiable.
Nursing students are required to make at least 80% as a "C" in all required courses. Students earning “D” or below must repeat the theory, lab, and/or clinical components for the course and cannot progress to the program's next semester classes until all classes from each semester are passed.
COURSE WORK GRADE SCALE
- A= 92-100%
- B= 86-91%
- C= 80-85%
- D= 66-79%
- F= 0-65%
If the grade on the first exam is low(less than 80%), the Nursing Advisor will contact the student to assist the student with a study plan.
A course grade that falls below 80% will be flagged at mid-term. Assistance can be offered to the student and assistance can be requested by the student.
- 79.99% as an overall course grade is considered failing.
Final grades are calculated without rounding.
EXAM GRADE SCALE
- Passing for Exams is 77% or above (as an average of all exams given during a course - does not include quizzes)
- Additional grades from assignments, quizzes, etc. will result in the final course grade
80% OR ABOVE IN THE COURSE IN ADDITION TO 77% OR ABOVE AS AN AVERAGE SCORE ON EXAMS IS REQUIRED TO PASS THE COURSE.
LATE ASSIGNMENTS
Written work must be satisfactorily completed and on time. Late assignments will not be accepted and will result in a ZERO unless approved by the Director of Nursing..
EXTRA CREDIT
Under no circumstance can the instructor issue extra credit for any nursing assignment or course.
