  • Unplanned Absences (e.g., illness or emergency)
  • Planned Absences (e.g., professional development or personal time)
    • Avoid scheduling time off during critical periods (e.g., exams, clinical checkoffs, or final evaluations).

Tardiness and Early Departure

  • Faculty are expected to be punctual and prepared.
  • Repeated tardiness or early departures without approval will be considered unprofessional conduct and are subject to review.

Documentation of Attendance in Paylocity

  • Full-time nursing faculty must request Paid Time Off/PTO through Paylocity after planning time off dates with their supervisor.
  • Adjunct faculty must request Emergency Leave, Bereavement or Jury Duty through a Time Off Request in Paylocity

NOTE: Excessive or unreported absences may result in a performance review or contract revision.

Reporting Clinical Instruction Absences

Clinical instruction requires strict compliance with scheduled hours for student supervision, safety, and Board of Nursing regulations.
Faculty unable to attend a clinical day must:

  • Notify the Clinical Coordinator immediately and document the absence via Email.
  • Arrange appropriate coverage or submit a documented make-up plan.

NOTE: Be sure to submit an email that documents the clinical make-up plan and document any incidents or adjustments according to program policy.
