Absences - Nursing Faculty
Reporting Faculty Absences - Full-time Faculty & Adjunct Faculty
Faculty are expected to complete the Faculty Absence Notification Form and notify leadership when they are unable to instruct an assigned scheduled class, clinical, or lab.
- Unplanned Absences (e.g., illness or emergency)
- Planned Absences (e.g., professional development or personal time)
- Avoid scheduling time off during critical periods (e.g., exams, clinical checkoffs, or final evaluations).
Tardiness and Early Departure
- Faculty are expected to be punctual and prepared.
- Repeated tardiness or early departures without approval will be considered unprofessional conduct and are subject to review.
Documentation of Attendance in Paylocity
- Full-time nursing faculty must request Paid Time Off/PTO through Paylocity after planning time off dates with their supervisor.
- Adjunct faculty must request Emergency Leave, Bereavement or Jury Duty through a Time Off Request in Paylocity
NOTE: Excessive or unreported absences may result in a performance review or contract revision.
Reporting Clinical Instruction Absences
Clinical instruction requires strict compliance with scheduled hours for student supervision, safety, and Board of Nursing regulations.
Faculty unable to attend a clinical day must:
- Notify the Clinical Coordinator immediately and document the absence via Email.
- Arrange appropriate coverage or submit a documented make-up plan.
NOTE: Be sure to submit an email that documents the clinical make-up plan and document any incidents or adjustments according to program policy.
