IT 125 Database Fundamentals

This course provides a foundational overview and practical experience in using a database management system (DBMS). Students will learn what a DBMS is and how to interact with it to create, maintain, and utilize business data, and how the DBMS ensures transactional integrity through ACID properties. Students will leave the course with an understanding of semantic modeling, relational database theory, query construction using SQL, and SQL data manipulation. Actual hands-on experience with computer equipment comprises the majority of the course work.
